Volleyball Team Falls to League Leader Wheeling Jesuit, 3-0

BUCKHANNON -- West Virginia Wesleyan's women's volleyball team started strong Saturday morning, but eventually bowed to league leading Wheeling Jesuit in straight sets in Mountain East Conference action at Rockefeller Center.

Wesleyan dropped the straight sets by scores of – 25-21, 25-15 and 25-12.

In the first set, the Lady Bobcats had leads late in the game, holding margins of 14-12 and 18-17. But the Cardinals rallied to close that set with a win, and used that momentum to take sets two and three.

Emily Doyle and Hannah King each registered eight kills for the offense, with Ebonie Hicks adding six.

Setter Katlyn Buckland posted team highs of 24 assists and three service aces. 

Emily Doyle delivered 16 digs and Hannah Bradford nine. King recorded a team high three blocks, with Leah Blend adding two.

Wheeling Jesuit remains atop the league with a record of 15-4 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the conference. Wesleyan falls to 8-13 overall and 3-4 in the MEC.

Coach Nancy Wheeler's squad is back in action next weekend, making a road swing into Ohio to face Urbana and Notre Dame.
