Cross County Lady 'Cats Win Bridgewater Eagle Challenge

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat cross country team started the 2016 season off in style as they took first place in the Bridgewater Eagle Challenge here Thursday evening.

Placing four runners in the top six propelled the Lady Bobcats to the win in the nine-team event as they amassed just 27 points.

Second place Davis & Elkins was well behind with 76 points.

Emma Harrison was the top Lady Bobcat runner as she finished third with a time of 15:47.

Right behind her was Joanna Johnston in fourth (15:58), Sydney Pineault in fifth (16:12) and Rachael Englund in sixth (16:21).

Laura Geldmaker rounded out the scorers with a ninth-place finish with a time of 17:05.

The rest of the Lady Bobcat finishers included Baylee Summers in 11th (17:09), Catherine Beach in 13th (17:27), Rachel Fulks in 26th (18:36), Kendra Gillenwater in 32nd (18:56), Brooke Phelps in 40th (19:42), Kirsten Campbell in 45th (20:05) and Lauren Clower in 47th (20:08).

Marissa Coombs from Virginia Wesleyan won the 85-person race with a time of 15:30.

The Lady 'Cats will run again, Saturday, Sept. 17 at the St. Vincent Invitational.
